Instagram bio
Instagram bios allow up to 150 characters. Styled letters and accents can count as more than one.
How to count words, characters, and Unicode code points
Whether you are trimming an article, writing a 150-character Instagram bio, or checking if a decorated gamertag fits a strict game rename box, this tool counts your text in real time without sending a single byte to a server.
Type or paste your text, bio, or nickname
Paste any plain text, fancy Unicode string, or multi-paragraph draft into the editor above (use "Clear" to reset at any time).
Compare the 5 live metric cards
Check the five live stat cards below the editor: Characters (total Unicode code points), Without spaces (excluding regular spaces AND invisible characters like U+3164/U+2800), Words, Lines, and Paragraphs.
Check the live 0 / 150 Instagram bio bar and glitch warning
Watch the "Instagram bio" card at the bottom to keep your bio within 150 code points and verify that stacked Zalgo marks do not trigger the combining-mark warning.
Why Unicode character counts differ across games and social media
Unicode code points vs. UTF-16 code units (.length)
Characters in the supplemental Unicode planes—such as Mathematical Bold/Script letters (U+1D400–U+1D7FF) and emojis—are stored as surrogate pairs in UTF-16. Our counter counts real Unicode code points so a 10-letter styled word registers as 10 characters, while also subtracting hidden blanks (U+3164, U+2800, U+200B) in the "Without spaces" card.
Quick reference: character limits by game and platform
- Free Fire Nickname: 3 to 12 Unicode code points.
- PUBG Mobile Nickname: 2 to 14 characters (up to 7 CJK characters; multi-byte symbols reduce the cap).
- League of Legends / Valorant Riot ID: 3 to 16 characters (Game Name) + 3 to 5 characters (#TAG).
- Discord Display Name / Server Nickname: 1 to 32 characters (About Me bio: 190 characters).
- Instagram Bio: 150 characters (Username: 30 characters, Caption: 2,200 characters).

Frequently asked questions
›Does this word counter upload or save my text anywhere?
No. Every calculation—Characters, Without spaces, Words, Lines, Paragraphs, and the 150-character Instagram bio meter—runs 100% locally in your browser memory.
›Why does a styled nickname or emoji show a different character count on some websites?
Our counter measures actual Unicode code points (Array.from(text).length) rather than raw JavaScript UTF-16 code units. A mathematical bold letter (𝐇) or an emoji is 1 Unicode code point, and the "Without spaces" card subtracts both regular whitespace and hidden blank characters (U+3164, U+2800, U+200B).
›What does the stacked glitch warning on the Instagram bio bar mean?
If your text contains more than 3 combining diacritical marks stacked on a single letter (heavy Zalgo/glitch text), the Instagram bio card displays a warning because mobile apps and game chat filters often clip or reject deeply stacked marks.
